Information for Veterinarians

What is this study?

Hemangiosarcoma (HSA), a devastating cancer in dogs, urgently needs better diagnostic methods.

Our study aims to explore a groundbreaking approach using trained dogs to detect a unique odor associated with HSA.

Participation Invitation

By contributing blood samples, your clinic can play a pivotal role in potentially revolutionizing early detection methods for this aggressive cancer.

A Simple Four Step Process

1) Register your interest by clicking the “register interest” button. Await further instructions sent to your email.

2) Collect blood serum samples at your clinic. Complete the information survey for each case (date, name, breed, age, sex, diagnosis).

3) Spin, separate, label with dog's name and date and store in the freezer until you have at least 5 samples.

4) When you have a minimum of 5 samples (including at least one healthy and one sick/HSA diagnosed sample), contact us for a shipping label.

If you have any questions, please contact us on pennvethsa@gmail.com.

Payment and Costs

As we do not have funding to reimburse you for blood collection, we encourage you to submit either leftover serum or extra serum collected on patients coming in for bloodwork. We ask that you provide your own shipping materials.  We will provide a shipping label and cover shipping costs.

Other ways to donate

If you are not eligible for donating blood, please consider supporting us financially via the Rookie Fund.
